08.23.08 - Budding Picasso
Jackson
experimented with crayons today. I'm not too sure he could quite grasp the
concept of them yet, but he seemed to enjoy banging them onto the paper and
trying to eat them. I asked him what he was drawing at one point and he looked
up at me and said "wall" (one of his newest words). I said, "okay, draw as many
walls as you like, just don't ever draw ON the walls!". Jackson will hopefully
get to meet his newest playmate soon. My friend had a baby boy yesterday and
he's the sweetest little thing. It's so hard to believe that Jackson was that
small once (actually, two pounds smaller). They grow up much too fast. Maybe
Jackson will have a sibling soon...if we can ever get the house sold.
08.11.08 - We have a molar
The
last couple of weeks of extra fussiness have a reason - Jackson cut his first
molar the other day! Teething is so rough...why can't babies just be born with
all their teeth already!? Oh, because those toothless grins are so cute when
they're little :). Last week, we went on a tour of the Millwood Fire Station
with the playgroup. Jackson's room is decorated in Dalmatians and fire trucks,
so it only seemed fitting. He was so good. He didn't even wince when they turned
on the sirens and alarm. He liked looking at all the trucks I think. He also
kept his souvenir fire hat on the entire time. He seems to be picking up a new
word every couple of weeks or so, his newest word being "bib". I'm totally
slacking on taking pictures lately. He is always on the move, so it's hard to
get a good still shot these days. We're getting our pictures taken for the new
church directory next weekend, so hopefully we'll get a good family shot out of
that deal.
08.02.08 - First Haircut
We
took Jackson to get his very first haircut today. What an ordeal! We planned to
take him to Kidz Cuts in town, but when we got there, it was gone! Nothing but
an empty building with a "for lease" sign in the window. Thinking they had just
changed locations, I called mom to get her to look up their number in the phone
book and call to ask where they were located. The number was disconnected. No
more Kidz Cuts! So, we just went to the mall since we had to go there for a few
things anyway. The first salon we tried couldn't get us in for a couple more
hours. So, we ended up at Trade Secret and were the only ones there. I guess the
lady was mad because we interrupted her smoke break, because she wasn't very
friendly. She even said "oh, I thought he was a girl" when she heard us call him
Jackson. I held him on my lap for the cut and he cried the whole time. She did
do a decent job with the cut considering how much he was squirming, but I did
have to trim it up a bit myself after we got home. They made a makeshift
envelope (by stapling a piece of paper together) for us with his hair in it to
take home. As if I wasn't dreading the first haircut enough, I'm already
dreading the second one even more after this horrible experience.
