12.24.08 - Appointment update
Jackson
had his 18 month checkup yesterday and is doing well for the most part. He is
now up to 21 pounds, 11.5 ounces (6th percentile) and 33 inches tall (72nd
percentile), so still our tall and skinny boy! He should be speaking a little
more than he is now, so if he doesn't have 40-50 words by the time he's 21
months old, we'll need to take him back to the doctor and they might need to
evaluate him for a speech delay. The doctor didn't seem too concerned at the
moment since he understands everything and does so many sounds, even if they
aren't words. He's still communicating in that way. Anyways, he's been quite the
Mr. Grumpypants for the past week or so. Last Wednesday I woke up to vomit all
over his room and in his crib. I don't know if it happened in the middle of the
night or when he woke up that morning, or both. So, I quickly put him in the tub
to wash him off and mom came over with Pedialyte and carpet cleaner and helped
clean up. We kept him on the BRAT (Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) diet for a
few days until he seemed to feel better. He has diarrhea for a few days as well,
so he definitely had some kind of stomach bug. He seems to feel fine now except
for his teeth. His last first year molar popped through last week and now he's
working on all of the eye teeth. We've had a lot of sleepless nights lately
because of that I think. So, tomorrow we're gearing up for Jackson's second
Christmas and anticipating a fun morning if everyone is feeling well. This has
been a bad month for all of us health-wise and now I'm the sick one. I just hope
this one doesn't keep circulating through the three of us and at least the other
two can be healthy and enjoy Christmas!
12.02.08 - Christmas is coming!
Jackson
is getting very exciting about Christmas coming soon. We decorated the house the
day after Thanksgiving and he really enjoys looking at all the decorations. He
can spot anything with Santa and he says "ho ho ho". His favorites are the
singing snowmen though, especially when he turns all three on at the same time.
Fun stuff. We did his Christmas portraits on Sunday and they turned out nicely.
I ordered our Christmas cards and will start mailing those out soon so everyone
can see how much he's grown. Yesterday, we went to visit Santa at the mall and
that was a blast. Jackson loved him! Santa actually made a video for Jackson
about him being on the "nice" list, which you can watch
here. We have lots of fun Christmas activities planned this month including
a visit to the Winter Wonderland in the park, making a mini gingerbread house,
and lots of parties and get-togethers.
