02.25.08 - our little comedian

We've all been sick as of late, and Adam has been the latest to catch whatever it is we've all passed around. He has been blowing his nose constantly, and Jackson is actually mocking him! Everytime he hears daddy blow his nose, Jackson does a little grunt or growl-type noise that sounds pretty similar to Adam's honking and then he sort of giggles to himself. It's hilarious! Jackson still has a bit of a cough and a slightly runny nose, but he is definitely tons better than he was. It looks like he is starting to cut a molar on the bottom and I think this has been bothering him a lot though, because he's been a bit on the cranky side in the last few days. Today, for lunch, Jackson tried some yogurt (Yo Baby) for the first time. He is starting to become a very messy eater because he grabs the spoon from my hand and tries to do it himself, so we both ended up with yogurt all over ourselves...but I think he liked it.

02.19.08 - new videos

I uploaded three new videos of Jackson tonight: one of him dancing, one of him cruising around the coffee table, and one taken today of him kissing his stuffed animals. That's his new thing - kissing. It's so cute! I think I'll appreciate his kisses even more when they don't include snot and drool, hehe. He's still feeling under the weather, but I do think it's getting better day by day. He was extremely hyper this afternoon and just wanted to play. I think after days of just laying around he missed throwing his ball around, un-stacking his rings, and playing with his stuffed animals.

02.18.08 - Still Sick

Jackson is still trying to get over his sickness. His cough has gotten a lot better, but it's still there. Now he's got a real runny nose and is just having a hard time sleeping. He slept in bed with me all night on Saturday because he wouldn't let us put him down in the crib. He'd be sound asleep in our arms, but as soon as his head hit that mattress, he'd wake up screaming. I kicked Adam out to the couch so Jackson and I could have the whole bed and we slept that way until about 5:45 on Sunday morning when I was finally able to put him in the crib for a couple of hours until he woke up for the day. He is getting upset because he usually sucks his thumb to fall asleep, but since his nose is so clogged up, he can't breathe when he does this, therefore not being able to fall asleep on his own. It's been a very tiring weekend for all of us! I took him in the shower with me last night to try to clear up his airways a little and just help him to relax a while and he seemed to enjoy it. He almost fell asleep in my arms in there. Luckily, I was able to get him to sleep in his crib all night last night, so I think he is starting to feel a bit better, even though I think it will still be a good while before he's back to his old self again.

02.14.08 - Croup

Jackson is not having a good first Valentine's day. He woke up this morning around 5:00 with a horrible cough. He settled down for a while, only to wake up again coughing. He hasn't been able to really sleep since. I took him to the doctor this afternoon and he has croup :(. It was a nice healthy sickness-free eight month run for him! I guess it had to happen sometime and everybody seems to be sick right now. He was given a steroid to take over the next couple of days, so hopefully that will help him feel better. He's also running a low-grade fever, so he's pretty lethargic. Poor little guy. I hate seeing him like this. I have a feeling it's going to be a loooooong night...

02.11.08 - Tooth #3!

I just noticed today that Jackson has cut a third tooth already! It's a little weird, because it's not one he should be getting quite yet, but it's definitely there. It's one of the top lateral incisors (beside where the two middle teeth will be). He's going to have a goofy grin for a while I think!

02.10.08 - 8 months old!

Happy eight month birthday to Jackson today! It's been a busy week and I am totally slacking in the picture department, but I uploaded a bunch tonight finally. I also took a new video of Jackson cruising around the coffee table, which I hope to upload when I get some free time. On Friday morning, we had our morning coffee playgroup and Jackson seemed to have a lot of fun crawling around the Harley Davidson coffee shop with the other babies. We went to Target to pick up a few things afterwards and he was so tired from the playgroup that he fell asleep, slouched over to the side, in the shopping cart! I figured I'd let him sleep awhile and take advantage of the quiet time, so I kind of just walked around for a bit. He didn't wake up until we got out to the car, poor thing. I'm a little leery of taking him out in the public right now with this horrible flu virus that's going around, but so far, so good. I've been sick myself for the past two weeks, so it's been a little difficult keeping up with Jackson all day long, but I'm hanging in there. I've been napping when he has, so needless to say I haven't gotten much done around the house lately. We were finally able to clean the place today, but it's so hard to do because Jackson is absolutely terrified of the vacuum cleaner. One of us has to hold him while the other one vacuums or he completely freaks out. He had a really funny moment yesterday...he crawled into the kitchen and the refrigerator door was open, so he started pulling up to a stand to check things out in there...and what does he reach for: a soda can of course! That crazy boy and his soda cans! He will always be amazed by that shiny aluminum. Yesterday was a bit of a sad day though. We had to put away his rainforest gym :(. That was his absolute favorite thing to play with, but lately he's just been trying to climb it and tumbling over, so it was time. We kept monkey out though since that's his favorite toy. Our living room has a little more floor space now, so that's a plus!

02.04.08 - skating

Jackson had his very first figure skating related outing yesterday. The three of us went to Pennsylvania for the day to do a photo shoot of a new ice dance team. Jackson was enthralled watching them whip around the ice. He wasn't so fond of the four hour car ride each way to get there though. He fought tooth and nail getting back in that car seat for the ride home, but he finally settled down and slept. It was a good test run of how our trip to Atlanta will go in a few months...long and stressful! In other news, Jackson started cruising around the furniture the other day. He walks around the coffee table and ottoman and up and down the couch. He is fast too! He's also getting closer and closer to standing without support. He now uses only one arm for support a lot of the times when he is standing. This boy does not stop growing!!
