01.30.08 - Home at last
We
got back from St. Paul on Monday night and boy was Jackson happy to see us! I
know he had a great time with his grandparents while we were gone, but I think
he's happy to be back home again. He's been awfully clingy in the past couple of
days. I don't know if it's because he missed us, or if it's from teething
pain...maybe a little of both. His second tooth has cut through now, so that
could have a lot to do with the extra fussiness lately. We got him a few
souvenirs from Minnesota: a
Snowplow Sam stuffed animal, a Minnesota Wild (hockey team) sweatshirt, and
a Minnesota Wild sippy cup. They didn't have any figure skating related baby
items, so we had to resort to hockey.
01.21.08 - new foods and flu shot
Jackson
acquired some new tastes over the weekend. While we were at playgroup on Friday,
I noticed a lot of the other babies his age were already eating Cheerios and
such, so I figured we better get on the ball! We had gotten so many stage one
foods back during the coupon madness, that I was just trying to finish those up
before moving on to stage twos and finger foods. Then I looked at how many I
really had left and figured if I didn't soon move to stage twos, he's be nine or
ten months old before the stage ones were gone, so we just went ahead and
switched over and I'm sure someone from the group will be happy to get some free
food. The stage twos are a lot thicker, which he seems to enjoy, plus there is
meat! He's quite the carnivore the way he has been eating his chicken the last
two nights, haha. He also tried Gerber puffs, which he wasn't too fond of yet,
and Cheerios, which he loves. He can't quite get the hand-eye coordination down
to get them into his mouth, but he is trying really hard. It's times like this
that I wish we had a dog because I sure vacuumed up a lot of Cheerios yesterday!
It looks like his second tooth is just starting to cut through his gums, which
kept him up for hours last night, ugh. Poor thing, I know that has got to hurt.
Today he had his flu booster, which went pretty well. He wasn't happy, but at
least it was only one stick and he got over it by the time we left the exam room
and checked out. I've been pumping him with Tylenol to keep any fever he may
develop at bay. My fingers are crossed that it won't be as bad as last time he
had his shots. His suitcase is pretty much packed and ready to spend a week with
the grandparents. I've been feeling really guilty about leaving him behind, but
my lovely ladies at the TTC forum have assured me that I'll be fine and that I
deserve a break and quality time with Adam, so I'm feeling a little better about
it all.
01.16.08 - Dancing
Jackson
is starting to dance when he hears music now. Pretty much all of his toys make
some kind of music and whenever he plays it, he starts grooving to the beat.
It's so cute! I guess his teeth were bothering him again last night because he
was up for two hours from 2:00 till 4:00. That was fun. We leave a week from
today for St. Paul, so I've been trying to get everything organized. I've got
tons of lists for Jackson - stuff to pack, daily schedule, etc. I'm going to be
as prepared as possible since it'll be the first time he's been away for more
than a night.
01.14.08 - Playgroup and teeth
Jackson's
first meet up with the playgroup was on Friday morning. There was one other 7
month old boy there when we arrived and Jackson's face just lit up when he saw
him. He was just fascinated with the other baby, and then became even more so
when the others arrived. He chatted up a storm with them and played real well on
the floor...although we're going to have to work on sharing toys. He was
especially interested in the two five month old baby girls, so he's already
becoming quite the flirt. We're going again this Friday morning. We didn't get
to see Jackson much this weekend. We had an event an church that was on Friday
evening, and all day long on Saturday, so Jackson spent some quality time with
his grandparents. He cut his first tooth on Saturday too, so he was pretty
cranky and refused to take a bottle. He only had one the whole day, but he ate
tons of squash, rice, and oatmeal without any problems. He had a hard time
falling asleep on Saturday night because of the tooth pain, so after a little
bit of baby Orajel and Tylenol, he slept really well the rest of the night. I
think his second tooth is already through now too, or just about. He doesn't
like me looking in his mouth or putting my finger in there, so it's hard to
tell. I scheduled him for his flu booster shot for next Monday. I hope he
doesn't have the same kind of reaction he had with the first one a month ago,
especially since we're leaving for Minnesota on Wednesday of that week. Fingers
crossed!
01.10.08 - 7 months old
Today
is Jackson's seven month birthday. Seven whole months now, wow. He is keeping me
on my toes with all this crawling and pulling up. I have hit a new level of
fatigue at the end of the day, haha. His favorite thing to do is chase a ball
around. That occupies him for quite a while actually. He'll go up to grab the
ball, but instead he accidentally sends it rolling further along and goes off to
chase it. It's so funny to watch. He doesn't even get frustrated, which is
surprising. He just picks himself up and crawls to wherever the location of the
ball is. He is definitely teething. He woke up the other night just screaming,
so I think his gummies were hurting a little bit. He is in love with his chilled
teething ring and is starting to take a little bit of interest in his sippy cup
of water. I don't think he's getting much, if any water down, but he likes to
chew on the spout and he actually is holding the cup pretty well...if only he
could do that with his bottle, hmm. Tomorrow morning is our first playgroup, so
that should be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to see how Jackson interacts
with the other kids/babies.
01.06.08 - crawling like crazy!
Jackson
was crawling like crazy tonight. He's gotten much better at it just in the last
few days. He's also pulling up on EVERYTHING! The coffee table, the ottoman, his
dinosaur, his rainforest gym, jumperoo, us, etc. We also noticed tonight that...drumroll
please...he's starting to get teeth! I noticed little white blister looking
things on his bottom gum, so I think his teeth will start popping through soon.
I'm working on uploading a couple more videos from him pulling up and crawling
tonight, but YouTube is not being very agreeable tonight, so we'll see...
01.05.08 - New videos
I
added four new videos yesterday (I
know...finally, right?). Three are from Christmas day and the other one is from
last weekend of him crawling for the first time. It's kind of at a bad angle,
but you get the idea.
01.04.08 - happy new year!
I
can't believe it's already 2008! It's no longer even the year Jackson was born
anymore. He is just growing up so fast *tear*. He is still crawling, but just a
little bit at a time. He prefers to roll to where he wants to go and finds that
much easier. He is pulling up on everything now. We had to lower his crib
mattress last night because he's starting to stand up in there. You have to
watch him every second now too, or he will get into something. I looked away for
two seconds last night to tell Adam something while he was working on the crib
and while I wasn't looking, Jackson went head first into the corner of his
bookshelf. I felt so horrible because it was all my fault for not watching him.
He got a little cut on his eyebrow and cried for a minute, if that. It barely
bled, but I got weak to my knees and had to sit down knowing I had caused him
this pain :(. Gah, I could kick myself! Anyways, in other news, I've joined a
playgroup in Winchester, so Jackson and I will have something to do. I talked to
the lady that started it seven months ago on the phone the other night and she
was so nice. I think it'll be a lot of fun for both me and Jackson.
