07.30.07 - Videos Added
I
uploaded a couple of videos of Jackson to my YouTube account. Click on the
videos link to the right to view them. Is he the cutest baby ever or what!? No
bias, of course.
07.28.07 - don't touch my baby!
Okay,
call me a paranoid new mom, but I don't want strangers touching my baby! I'm
fine with someone touching his feet, or his clothes...but, why do people have to
touch his hands and his face? I don't know where their hands have been! He's at
the stage where he has discovered his hands and is constantly putting them in
his mouth, so who knows what kind of germs he could be sucking on. So, after
being touched by strangers all evening, I gave him a nice long bath and feel a
lot better now...rant over :).
07.25.07 - out and about
Jackson
has been out and about a lot these last few days. Yesterday, we went over to my
parents' house for dinner. Jackson's "Tante" (aunt in German) was visiting from
California, so he got to meet her for the first time finally. Today, we went to
visit everyone at "Grandmama's" work. They were so excited to see him...he's
really grown since he was in there last. We actually weighed him yesterday and
he's up to 10 pounds already! After the visit to work, we went back over to
Grandmama's and Grandpapa's for dinner to celebrate Uncle Brendon's 21st
birthday. Jackson has slept pretty much all day long, so I'm anticipating a
loooong night. Luckily, we have no plans for tomorrow, so at least we can take
naps throughout the day if need be. Oh, and we have Jackson's baptism at our
church scheduled for August 26th - so mark your calendars if you want to come to
that! We'll probably have a little luncheon or something at our house afterwards
too.
07.21.07 - busy week
Jackson
kept busy this week. On Tuesday, our cousin Emily came over to visit. She took
us out shopping and for some ice cream. Jackson got a little fussy in the
dressing room at Old Navy, but otherwise he did really well. Mom took us out to
the mall for some more shopping fun and lunch on Wednesday. He was very well
behaved, but got a little miffed at his grandma's indecisiveness. He got his
first taste at how slow his grandma shops, haha. Yesterday, we took a trip over
to my parents' house for dinner. To top off his busy week, Jackson also got to
visit with both of his other grandparents. Today we took his first
"professional" portraits here at home since he'll be six weeks old tomorrow. I
think they turned out really well. It's very difficult to keep an infant happy
during a photo shoot, so I think all things considering, he was a trooper with
that. I've made a nice birth announcement finally, using one of the photos from
tonight, so once I get some envelopes and more stamps I'll be mailing those out
soon (hopefully). Tomorrow, we're going to try to do church in the
morning...just me and Jackson, since Adam is working. In the evening he'll be
getting another visit with grandparents. It's so nice that all the family lives
close by!
07.16.07 - first smile
Apparently
Jackson finds burps very funny because he gave his daddy the biggest grin after
hearing daddy's burp this evening. It brought tears to our eyes to see his face
light up like that. Adam kept making weird noises and burps and he kept smiling
for us for several minutes. It was so wonderful!
07.15.07 - First Trip
Jackson
took his first long car trip this past week. Unfortunately, it wasn't for
pleasure. Jackson's great-grandfather (Adam's grandfather) passed away on
Tuesday, so we went down for a few days for the funeral. He never got to meet
Jackson, but he talked about him all the time and kept his picture next to him
in the hospital. He was so proud to be a great-granddaddy. Jackson was on his
best behavior during the whole trip. He slept the whole way down in the car
(about 10 hours), only waking up to eat and get changed every few hours. He was
quiet and mostly slept during the viewing. We didn't get to do the actual
funeral service since it was time for Jackson to eat, so he and I just waited
outside. He was good during the graveside service though - slept through that. I
think he enjoyed meeting all those new people. Everyone was going on and on
about how good he was and how beautiful he was. I think getting to meet Jackson
helped his great-grandmother just a little bit too, because I know she has been
devastated. We came home yesterday and he was good for the most part on the ride
home...a little more fussy than on the way down, but really nothing to complain
about. Today we're heading over to his grandma's house since yesterday was her
birthday. We've heard there are some new toys there for Jackson to play with, so
I think he's excited!
07.10.07 - Happy 1 month birthday!
Jackson
is already a month old today. I can't believe how fast the time is going. I
dressed him up from head to toe so his daddy could take some cute pictures
today. Jackson and I then went over to my parents' house to spend the evening
since Adam was going to be at a couple of meetings. So, it was my first
adventure by myself with Jackson. All went smoothly...it's just hard to carry a
diaper bag and an eight pound baby up and down three flights of stairs with no
air conditioning. We had fun though, so I'm sure we'll find somewhere else to go
- just the two of us - soon.
07.06.07 - just jackson and mommy
Adam
went back to work this week, so the last two days have been just Jackson and me.
He's been really good so far. He even gave me a smile yesterday and lots of coos
:). He tried his first 4 oz. bottle last night and downed it. He seems to be
getting more and more hungry, so we figured we might as well try it and he loved
it. The next feeding, we tried 4 oz. again, but he only drank 3 oz. So, maybe
we'll just vary it up for a few days and see where it goes. He's been doing so
well during the nights. He is still waking up every three hours to eat, but he
usually falls right back asleep and stays sleeping until 5:00 or 6:00 in the
morning, which is great! Way early for us, but we have to get used to that. I'm
not sure what we'll be doing this weekend. Maybe if it's nice out we'll go to
the park for a walk or something? I'm sure we'll try to do church again on
Sunday. He slept through the whole service last week as well as the reception
afterwards, so hopefully he can do that again this week.
07.04.07 - first 4th
Jackson
celebrated his first 4th of July today by taking a trip to visit Grammy and
Granddaddy in Martinsburg. It was his first trip out of state (insert sarcastic
WOW here). He slept almost the whole time, but he did wake up a little to
explore. He was fascinated by the barometer on Grammy's wall. Tonight, the three
of us watched the Strasburg fireworks from Jackson's bedroom window. He slept
through those too. With all the sleep he did during the day, I'm anticipating a
rough night, but we'll see. He seemed to be starting to establish a
routine...waking up to feed around 2:00 and then around 5:00...but maybe since I
was bragging about how good he's been during the nights recently, I jinxed it.
