11.29.07 - Fussy and Green bean fun

The last couple of days have been a nightmare. For some reason (teething, tummy ache?) Jackson was incredibly fussy. I mean, screaming his head off for 30 minutes at a time fussy. He was playing in his rainforest and knocked himself in the face with his mirror, so that set him off. After finally getting him calmed down, he must have bit his fingers too hard while he had them in his mouth because it just started all over again. He refused to nap, so I pretty much just walked around the house for hours and hours while he cried. I was so exhausted! Yesterday he was still somewhat fussy, but not as bad. He did however wake up during the night and wouldn't go back to sleep for three hours. That was fun. Today has been fine so far, go figure. He hasn't fussed one time. Last night he ate green beans for the first time. I think he really like them. He didn't make any of the awful faces that he did for the sweet potatoes and squash. He finished the whole container too. I think he's going to be a good eater, unlike his picky parents (especially daddy!).

11.26.07 - Just so you know...

Two new videos and some of the cutest pictures yet were added tonight.

11.25.07 - Squash

Jackson had a wonderful first Thanksgiving on Thursday. He really like watching the dog walk around and tries to reach out to pet him. Too bad Alex is terrified of him, haha. On Friday, we got out all of our Christmas decorations. Jackson wasn't so sure about all of that since we had to move a bunch of his stuff around to make room for the tree. But, now he doesn't even know the difference and enjoys looking at the lights and our blinking snowman. On Saturday we had dinner at Adam's parents' house. Jackson had us all excited because he was getting so close to being able to sit up on his own from a crawling position. I think he'll have that down soon. He is still trying desperately to crawl too. Tonight he tried squash for the first time. He wasn't so sure about the first couple of bites, but he got the hang of it.

11.22.07 - happy thanksgiving!

Jackson would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. He has a lot to be thankful for this year...being born probably tops his list. He is also thankful for monkeys, bottles, and oatmeal. He is looking forward to dressing up in his cute "Baby's First Thanksgiving" outfit and heading to Grandmama's for turkey and pumpkin pie!

11.20.07 - Sweet potatoes

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we decided to let Jackson try sweet potatoes for the first time this evening. The last week or so, he's really been starting to show an interest in what we've been eating - even lunging for Adam's plate one night, so we thought now might be a good time to try some baby food. He ate it just fine, but sure had some awful faces after each bite. He ate a little less than half of the container, so it was overall a good start!

11.13.07 - New video

I added a new vid (perhaps the cutest one yet) of Jackson today. He's really getting close to crawling and has recently been getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth. He gets so excited when he does this. I would also like to thank Jackson for my birthday gift of Sesame Street DVDs. That was so thoughtful of him :).

11.10.07 - 5 months old!

Happy five month birthday to Jackson today! He's getting so big, so fast. His new thing is that he's starting to mimic us...especially when we stick our tongue out. It's so cute! He's been a finicky eater and sleeper the last week. Last night I was up with him for three hours trying to get him to fall back to sleep without having a bottle. My persistence paid off because he finally went back to sleep around 4:30 and slept till 7:00. I guess I had extra patience last night (don't know where that came from!). His pediatrician said that since he is able to sleep through the night on a regular basis now, there is no need to give him a bottle if he wakes up in the middle of the night, because if we start doing that, we'll get back in that old habit. So, hopefully I can keep being patient with him and he'll cut out this waking up in the middle of the night for hours thing again. Btw, I put up a new video of him the other day, so watch if you haven't already :).

11.07.07 - Crazy boy

Jackson is one crazy boy. He is really into showing off now and making funny faces and noises. I find myself asking him at least ten times a day, "what ARE you doing!?", haha. Yesterday, we went to visit Grammy and Granddaddy in Martinsburg. Jackson had a nice visit and wasn't cranky there at all, like he usually is. After we got back to my parents' house, I fed him his oatmeal for dinner and he had to be in a reclined position in the chair they have there. I guess he wasn't swallowing as well or something because he spewed everything back up and it went all down his neck and back and all over his clothes. So, I had to give him a bath there before we could head home because he was an oatmeal mess! So, note to self...do not ever feed him solids in a reclined position!

11.05.07 - Teething?

I think Jackson may be teething. He was abnormally fussy all day today (and of course, the fussiness yesterday too) and hasn't been so thrilled about eating his cereal like he usually is. He just wants to gnaw on his fingers. He also had really rosy cheeks today, which I hear can be a sign of teething. I looked in his mouth and felt all along his gums and nothing looked out of the ordinary. So, perhaps he is just now starting to work on a tooth or two, but nothing has popped up yet. It may be quite a while still, I think. I hope he feels better tomorrow. If not, I may have to look into getting him one of those amber teething necklaces. They supposedly work real well...the amber is a natural pain reliever and gets absorbed into the skin. Babies that wear them seem to not even notice that they're teething.

11.04.07 - Off Schedule

This weekend sure flew by. We definitely stayed busy. It started off with Jackson not having a good night on Friday. He was up from 1:30 till 3:00 a.m., just wide awake and wanting to play. Not a fun way to spend the night. On Saturday, Adam was gone for most of the day out shopping for my birthday and Christmas presents, and Jackson also napped for a good part of the day...making up the time he lost overnight I assume. After Adam finally got home, we had errands to run at Costco and the grocery store. This morning we tried to go to church, but Jackson started fussing before the first hymn and we just ended up leaving. If anyone is willing to baby-sit at our house every Sunday morning, please let us know! We'd like to be able to attend church regularly again. It's so hard to do that with him now and I feel terrible that we haven't been going as often as we used to. I miss it. Bryon and Erin came over for dinner this evening and Jackson was unusually fussy. He even refused to eat his oatmeal, which is very unlike him. He is just super tired now after the Friday night thing and the time change has thrown him off of his schedule a bit too because he was in bed around 7:00 tonight. I know I'm slacking on pictures. I'll try to take some tomorrow and get those up. He's still just as cute, if not cuter than he was a few days ago :).

11.01.07 - First Halloween

Yesterday was Jackson's very first Halloween. Mom called me yesterday morning and asked me to dress Jackson up and bring him into her office to see everyone. Everyone was bringing their babies/grandbabies in to show off their costumes. So, I put his pumpkin costume on and headed out. Everyone was just oohing and aahing over how cute he looked. He is not a big fan of that costume though - I think it's a little too warm for him. So, I took it off before we headed out. We then went to Target to finish up Christmas shopping for Adam. I was disappointed that they didn't have their Christmas cards available yet (the individual ones), so that's the only thing I have left to get. I am soooo thrilled to be almost done with shopping this early. I am already in the Christmas spirit and more excited than ever for this holiday season. I can't wait to see Jackson's cute little Christmas outfits on him, take him to church on Christmas eve, watch him open his presents, and spend time with family members that haven't had a chance to see him much. We took a video of Jackson in his costume last night playing with a soda can, so I'll upload that as soon as I get a chance...hopefully before the day is over.
