09.30.07 - Pumpkins!
Today
we went to the Virginia Farm Market so Jackson could pick out his first pumpkin.
He picked a beauty and we also got a couple of little ones - one for in his
room. Adam got some cute pics while we were there too. Afterwards, we went to
Target to pick up a few things and bought a new camcorder too. Our old one was
really acting up on us and didn't work at all most of the time, so we figured we
might as well just get a brand new one. This one is really nice. It's still
charging, so we haven't tested it yet, but it's so tiny and looks like the video
quality is going to be really good. After that, we stopped at Rita's on the way
home and Jackson had his first taste of ice cream...just a tiny little speck
from my finger...I don't think he even noticed, haha. I'm too paranoid to give
him a real taste this young, anyway. Now he's napping away after a busy day.
Adam and I bought "Knocked Up" on DVD because it's just about the most hilarious
movie ever. Maybe we'll be able to watch it tonight if Jackson sleeps well. And
in case you couldn't guess what today is...it's been one year since we found out
we were pregnant! The happiest day of my life, hands down.
09.29.07 - shopping and strolling
Last
night we went to the mall to run a couple of errands and ended up running into a
bunch of people we know. Danielle, from church, was there with her mom and
family and she came right up to Jackson and kissed him. He's such a little flirt
already. We also saw George and Carolyn and her parents while we were enjoying
our Chick-fil-a. Today, Jackson and I went over to my parents' house since Adam
was gone for the day helping Erick move. We went for a little stroll around the
neighborhood and visited with the O'Hares and the next door neighbors. Jackson
had fun on the bumpy stroller ride. He actually prefers that to a smooth ride,
crazy boy. Oh, and yesterday, he did the cutest thing! He was laying in the
middle of the living room floor and spotted his rainforest mat in the distance.
He eyeballed it and started fussing and thought to himself, "hmm...I think I can
make it there by myself now" and rolled three or four times and landed right on
the mat and was as happy as a clam with his accomplishment. He's getting too
smart for me! Can anyone guess what tomorrow is? We plan to celebrate by taking
Jackson to the pumpkin maze at the farm market :)
09.27.07 - more rolling
Jackson
is really getting a kick out of being able to roll over both ways now. Today he
rolled halfway across the living room floor. I added a cute new video of him
laughing up a storm. We play with him on our bed every night before we put his
pajamas on and he always laughs so hard, so we finally got a good video of him
giggling and squealing.
09.25.07 - Roll baby roll
Jackson
rolled from his back to his tummy for the first time tonight. He'd been trying
for about a week to do this and he finally got it! There's a video uploading to
YouTube as I type this :).
09.23.07 - nothing new
Not
much new has happened since I updated over a week ago. Jackson is still as cute
as ever, of course...getting cuter and smarter every day. He's really starting
to grab at things now - my hair, necklace, his toys, his shirt, etc. I guess
he's figuring out that those neat looking things on the end of his arms can
actually do things! He's such a happy baby, always smiling, cooing, and laughing
as long as he's had enough rest. If he's tired - watch out! I call him Mr.
Crankypants on those days, haha. We've been buying him a lot of new clothes for
the winter lately. I'm not looking forward to the weather changing from warm to
cold. We'll really have to bundle him up here soon! Yesterday, we went to Costco
and Jackson slept the whole time in his Baby Bjorn. Everyone giggled when they
saw him snoozing away in that thing. Today, we went over to Adam's parents'
house so Jackson could meet his great-grandparents for the first time. They are
up for a couple of weeks from way down in southern Virginia. He was a good boy,
but pretty out of it for much of the afternoon from lack of a decent nap. He
just doesn't want to miss anything!
09.15.07 - Jumperoo
We
went out today and got Jackson the rainforest jumperoo I've been eyeing since
before he was born. It was on sale for $59 at Target, when it's usually around
$80...plus we had a $5 gift card, so that made it even less! I love my good
deals! Anyways, they didn't have it at the Winchester Target, so we went down to
Front Royal and found it there. Jackson has had a blast in it so far. It's
definitely still too big for him since his feet don't even touch the floor, but
it'll be okay for him to just dangle in it for a short time. He is still able to
activate the lights and sounds just by moving around. We also hit up the 30% off
sale at Gymboree (it's Gymbucks time too!) and got Jackson lots of cute winter
clothes. He was so good while we were out shopping today. That bodes well for
future restaurant outings perhaps :).
09.13.07 - very vocal
Jackson
is really starting to discover his voice this week. He's starting to laugh
really hard when we tickle him or when he plays. He loves when I dangle my hair
in his face for some reason, haha. He's also making some new shrieks and squeals
and even whines now instead of just flat out crying. I don't know what's worse,
because some of the squeals are very loud! I'm finally feeling better for the
most part, but now Adam is sick, so again we're trying to avoid making Jackson
sick. I've been hobbling around the last two days. Yesterday, Jackson was in his
swing and started to fuss, so on my way to get him, I tripped over his bouncer
and I think I broke my toe. It HURTS! Like, worse than labor pains...of course,
my labor was so easy, so I guess that's not really comparable. But, anyway, it's
bruised all the way around, swollen, and it's very difficult to walk. Luckily,
Jackson has been a good boy and letting me take it easy a little bit. The
weather has been so nice, I've wanted to take him out for a walk, but that's
going to be impossible for a while.
09.10.07 - 3 months old!
Happy
3 month birthday to Jackson today! He had a good time with his grandparents on
Saturday while Adam, my parents, and I enjoyed a skating show and dinner.
Jackson is already popular in the skating world...I ran into one of the skaters
I do a website for and the first words out of her mouth were "how's the baby?".
Jackson also got a gift from an online acquaintance that was at the show. She
got him an adorable little sleeper and hat that he'll grow into nicely this
winter. His other grandmother came over to visit yesterday for a bit. I'm still
not sleeping well at night with this lingering cough, but Jackson hasn't seemed
to catch it, so that's a good thing at least.
09.07.07 - No sleep
Okay,
so maybe this rolling over thing is not so good! Jackson usually sleeps on his
tummy at night (I know, I know, I'm a horrible mother because you're supposed to
put them on their backs to sleep, but he screams every time we lay him down on
his back...even when he's sound asleep, he wakes up and cries) and now since he
can roll so well from his tummy to his back, he did it all night long! I was up
at least 10 times flipping him over and was lucky if I got an hour of sleep last
night. Every time he rolled over, he started crying and wanting back on his
tummy. It was never-ending! I'm still sick on top of it all, so I really needed
my rest since I also didn't sleep but maybe two hours the night before.
Hopefully tonight will go a little smoother. At least it's a weekend so Adam can
help me out with the middle of the night stuff. Anyways, the baptism video was
added last night and I also added another video this afternoon.
09.06.07 - Rolling baby
We
have a rolling baby on our hands! Jackson has now mastered the tummy to back
roll and does it every time he's placed on his tummy now. He is so satisfied
when he's finished rolling too. I uploaded a video of him rolling a few times
tonight. I still need to get the baptism video up...maybe tomorrow or this
weekend. I'm still pretty sick. So far Jackson hasn't caught it from me and
neither has Adam, so I'm hoping it'll remain that way! We have a skating show to
go to this weekend, so I'm hoping I feel a lot better by then. Jackson is going
to stay with Adam's parents for the day while we're gone.
09.04.07 - what a day
Boy,
mommy had a hard time making it through the day! I must have pinched a nerve or
something in my back, because I was in excruciating pain for a good chunk of the
day...sometimes even in tears. Of course, Jackson decided he wanted to be extra
fussy today and constantly held, which made it even worse. It's been hurting me
since the weekend, but today it hit its peak I think. It feels a little better
now after relaxing with a heating pad and taking some Aleve. My mom came over
for a few hours to give me a break since Adam had a meeting at church directly
after work. I also have a cold, which I'm praying I don't spread to Jackson, but
that's probably inevitable. He's fussy enough when he's not sick...I can't
imagine what he'd be like if he didn't feel good!
09.02.07 - Baptism
Jackson
was baptized this morning at our church. He did okay, I suppose. He was pretty
fussy until the water touched his head and then he calmed down and seemed to
enjoy it. He looked adorable in his little white satin outfit. He was pretty
fussy after his part of the church service was over since he didn't get his
morning nap like he usually does. I took him out of the sanctuary and just
wandered around the building until he finally dozed off. Most of our family and
friends were able to make it. My grandparents unfortunately couldn't make the
baptism, but they did come over to the party afterwards to visit. Jackson was a
little fussy on and off throughout the day because he never really got a good
nap in with all the commotion. He's sound asleep now though, so I'm hoping for
another all-nighter...the good kind where he sleeps all night!
